The Challenge

One of Australia's largest industrial manufacturers of agricultural supplies operates production sites across multiple states. Custom-built applications sit at the heart of the business, managing product data, plant logistics, laboratory analysis and production reporting.

As the business grew, the servers supporting these applications across its manufacturing sites were approaching the end of their supported life. The manufacturer needed a partner who could modernise the underlying infrastructure without disrupting production-critical systems relied on every day across its sites.

The Solution

Kiandra was engaged as part of a large-scale infrastructure modernisation programme. Kiandra introduced secure development practices, updated code repositories and established automated pipelines for testing and deployment, giving the manufacturer a modern foundation for ongoing development.

Kiandra's programme of work included:

  • Migrating seven applications to new infrastructure, including server and database upgrades and cutover management with integration partners
  • Replacing a legacy security system
  • Analysing and remediating performance issues across the application estate
  • Replacing the data integration layer connecting two applications to the manufacturer's SAP ERP system
  • Applying enhancements to meet updated regulatory requirements
  • Building new applications to support a recent business acquisition
  • Updating the production reporting system
  • Providing ongoing support across ten production-critical systems

The Outcome

The infrastructure behind all seven migrated applications now sits on modern, vendor-supported servers and databases, removing the end-of-life risk that had been building across the manufacturer's production sites.

With the legacy security system replaced and the SAP ERP data integration rebuilt, the manufacturer's core operational data now moves through infrastructure built to current standards rather than ageing, increasingly fragile components.

The modernised base also gave the business room to move on things that couldn't wait for a full re-platform: enhancements to meet updated regulatory requirements landed on the new infrastructure, and new applications were stood up quickly to support a recent acquisition. Ten production-critical systems continue to run under Kiandra's ongoing support.

The result is a platform the manufacturer can build on with confidence, rather than one it has to work around.
