Software Solutions provider Kiandra IT has received the OutSystems Global Innovation Award for Legacy Application Modernisation – recognising its work replacing Western Australia (WA) Health’s critical 21-year old invoicing system in five months.

The ceremony was held at OutSystems’ annual event, NextStep in Amsterdam, with over 3000 attendees representing 61 countries. Kiandra Co-Founder Martin Cooperwaite, and Business Development Manager, Matt Dunn, took the international stage to accept the prestigious award.

The WA Health project has received significant media coverage from the technology sector due to the accelerated delivery time of such a critical piece of software – it processes up to $100 million worth of invoices a year.

Original estimates pegged the project taking 12 months using traditional software tools, but using low-code cut that time down to less than half.

OutSystems is the world’s number one platform for low-code development.

Gartner estimates, by 2024, low-code application development will be responsible for more than 65% of application development activity.

While low-code technology is widely used throughout Europe and the US, it is still in an early adoption stage in Australia. Martin says it is exciting to be part of disruptive technology and pairing it with Kiandra’s 24 years’ experience with enterprise-level application development.

“Low-code technology is changing the pace a business can move to become digitally relevant and opening the door to new innovations.

“This award winning work with WA Health, and being able to deliver a critical software project in less than five months using low-code, is testament to what the technology can do when paired with an experienced software provider."

The OutSystems Innovation Awards recognize, honour and celebrate the organizations and people that are using OutSystems to make IT dramatically more proactive, productive, and essential in creating business value and driving innovation.

Earlier this year, Kiandra received the OutSystems Partner of the Year Award for the entire Australia New Zealand region.

OutSystems ANZ Regional Director, Steve Oliff said the award was in recognition of Kiandra’s successful project delivery, number of certified developers and market development activities.

“This is a great time for digital transformation in the Australia and New Zealand region. Kiandra is part of this momentum. This award recognizes Kiandra’s capability to undertake the big projects that enable the next wave of disruption and innovation.”
